Honor killing is the worst example of brutality : Punjab Minister for Human Rights

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that honor killing is the worst example of brutality and bestiality, our society does not allow anyone for such a brutal act. Murder of daughter by her mother is a desecration of sacred bond of Mamta(affection); sick-minded people are tarnishing the image of society.

Minister for Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu expressed these views while meeting with a delegation from the human rights Organization, here today. He highly condemned to burn alive and the killing of an 18 years old girl named “Zeenat” by her mother and brothers in the name of honor killing in Lahore. He said that our society does not allow anyone to take law into his hands, such incidents spread negative image of Pakistan among international community.

The female members of the delegation has also condemned the incident, they demand exemplary punishment for all culprits involved in such a heinous crime. They said that it is very unfortunate that the circle of the honor killing has rapidly spread to the major cities from tribal and remote areas. It is need of the hour to further strengthening the legislation and awareness among society regarding Honor killing.

Talking to the delegation, Minister for Human Rights said that Chief Minister has sought a report within 48 hours from CCPO Lahore and he ordered to form the three-member investigation team. Lahore Police has arrested all the suspects in this case; he said that all the evidence will be examined through forensic lab test and strict action will be taken against all persons involved.

He said that Punjab government has taken various initiatives to protect women’s rights. He said that honor killings have decreased compared to the past, Civil society and Women’s Rights Organizations should play an active role in spreading awareness in this regard.
