Bangladesh security experts checked the security measures

Lahore: A 5-member Bangladesh delegation of security experts visited National Hockey Stadium and checked the security measures taken by Sports Board Punjab on Tuesday.

Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar briefed the delegation about the functioning of CC TV camera, security gates and walls around the Nishtar Park Sports Complex.

The Bangladesh security delegation is on Pakistan visit to assess security situation ahead of their women cricket tour. It’s pertinent to mention here that Bangladesh women team will likely to visit Pakistan by the end of this month to play ODI and T20 matches.

Maj (retd) Hussain Imam led the visiting delegation which was comprised of Lt-Col Rafiq ul Islam, DIG Misbauddin, Additional DIG Mazhar ul Islam and Security Advisor Bangladesh High Commission Mirza Aizaz ur Rehman. The visiting security officials inspected various parts of National Hockey Stadium and Sports Board Punjab including the CC TV Control Room.

The visiting delegation expressed complete satisfaction on the security situation in all sports venues. Especially they were quite impressed with the functioning of modern CC TV camera system. The delegation was also shown major features of Punjab Youth Festival and other prominent events through video documentary.

Maj Hussain Imam, the head of Bangladesh security delegation, has lauded Sports Board Punjab (SBP) for organizing three editions of Punjab Youth Festival and establishing dozens of Guinness Book World Records during a short span of three years.

Maj Imam said it’s praiseworthy performance on the part of SBP to organize three mega Punjab Youth Festival events quite successfully. “The successful holding of PYF events reflected the top class leadership qualities of DG SBP and untiring hard work of his team,” he added.

To a question about the tour of Bangladesh team, Major Imam said he’s quite satisfied with the security arrangements and he will put up a positive report to his cricket board.

Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar has vowed to provide top class security to Bangladeshi women cricket team; he expressed his determination during his meeting with visiting Bangladeshi security delegation at National Hockey Stadium .

DG SBP Usman Anwar informed the delegation that SBP has already organized various world class sports events during the last three years. “We are quite hopeful of Bangladesh’s women cricket tour in near future. It will be very helpful in the revival of international cricket and other sports events,” he opined.

Usman Anwar told the security officials about the functioning of CCTV security cameras. “The CCTV security cameras are being monitored and controlled in a control room established in the SBP office. Besides, gates and security walls, top standard security check posts have also been established at all key points around the Nishtar Park Sports Complex where smart and active security guards have been deputed to cope with any kind of untoward incident,” he explained.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that Pakistani nation will hear good news in near future regarding the tour of Bangladeshi women cricket team; he was talking to media after welcoming Bangladesh security delegation at National Hockey Stadium here on Tuesday

Rana Mashhood expressed his hope that Bangladesh women team will visit Pakistan as per their schedule. “After women team’s tour, we are hopeful that male cricketers of Bangladesh will also tour Pakistan,” he added.

The Minister said: “Punjab govt has always put up every possible effort to maintain peace in the province. We organized several major sports events like Punjab Youth Festival, cricket, football and hockey series in the past quite successfully”.

Later, Rana Mashud and DG SBP Usman Anwar presented souvenirs to all members of visiting delegation.
