PM Nawaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone of Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project has been launched in the provincial metropolis and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will formally lay the foundation stone of construction work of this splendid project. He said that people of Pakistan are thankful to Chinese leadership for this precious gift.

He said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project will bring a revolution in transport sector and work will be carried out round the clock on this project.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that labourers, workers, students, doctors, lawyers, farmers, traders and people of all walks of life will travel by metro train in a respectable manner and 2.5 lakh persons will benefit from this project daily.

He said that after the success of metro bus service in Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad and implementation of ongoing metro bus project in Multan, the project of first metro train in Pakistan will be a revolutionary step towards provision of modern, speedy and comfortable transport facility to the masses.

He said that after metro buses, the day is not far when people of Pakistan will travel by air-conditioned metro train of international standard and will be proud of being Pakistanis. He said that all these projects have been evolved for those people who used to travel in old and uncomfortable buses in extreme heat and cold.

The Chief Minister further said that out of 27 km long route of metro train, 24.3 km long section will be at a height of six meters from the ground while 1.7 km track will be underground. He said that 26 stations will be constructed on the route of the train while a depot will also be built.

The Chief Minister said that he will personally monitor the pace of construction work on regular basis. He said that a new transport culture in Pakistan has been promoted through metro bus service and lakhs of people reach their destination through these buses daily. Similarly, he said, Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project will bring revolutionary changes in transport system. He said that Punjab government has adopted a solid strategy for the improvement of infrastructure and provision of modern transport facilities to the masses.

He said that metro bus system has facilitated the citizens in travel and these projects are a glorious example of utilization of funds on the masses. He said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project is of vital importance and work will be carried out speedily for the completion of the project as soon as possible.
