Imran Khan calls on Ameer Jamaat e Islami Siraj ul Haq Imran Khan calls on Ameer Jamaat e Islami Siraj ul HaqIslamabad: Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, called on the Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan,  Sirajul Haq, at the residence of JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam, in Islamabad on Wednesday. He led a high level PTI delegation including Khyber P. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Dr Arif Alvi, Inamul Haq and Asad Qaiser. The meeting continued for about one and half hours.

Talking to the media men afterwards, Sirajul Haq said the JI and the PTI had  common objectives, as they wanted an end to the status quo, and establishment of an Islamic welfare state in the country. Both the parties wanted abolition of the present system of tyranny and injustice, and establishment of the supremacy of the rule of justice and law and merit. He said that all those who had ruled the country so far had failed  to protect the rights of the people.

Sirajul Haq said that the 2013 elections had become controversial due to large scale allegations of rigging and the sanctity of the ballot box had been shattered under the pressure of the international establishment. He said that if the reservations of the people and the political parties on this score were not removed and electoral reforms were not introduced, the results of the next elections would not be accepted.

The JI chief said that the government was dilly dallying on the issue of talks with the PTI and nobody knew what government had in mind. He said he had been demanding from the very first day that the elections should be fair and  transparent and that all those involved in rigging should be punished.

Sirajul Haq slated the silence of the Islamabad rulers on the sentences announced against JI Bangladesh leaders. He said it was the government\s responsibility to raise its voice against the convictions in the UN and the OIC. He said if the government did not change its attitude, the JI would be forced to hold countrywide protest on the issue.
