Advocate Shazia blames her husband Advocate Malik Tariq

Lahore High Court on Monday took notice on a reference sent by the Disciplinary Committee of Punjab Bar Council that an advocate assaulted niece of his wife. District & Sessions Judge, Rawalpindi has been directed to look into the matter and submit a detailed progress report of investigation in the case registered with Police Station New Town, Rawalpindi.

According to details, Advocate Shazia Ahmad moved an application with the Disciplinary Committee of Punjab Bar Council (PBC) against her husband Advocate Malik Tariq Mehmood, Vice President of Fateh Jang Bar Association. The applicant submitted that her husband along with his companion took advantage of her absence and molested her niece, who is a medical student. They also took 20-tola jewellery, currency worth 2200 pounds of the applicant and fled away on the car of the victim.

The applicant further narrated that a case has been registered with New Town police station but due to the influence of the main accused Advocate Tariq Mehmood, SHO concerned was reluctant to take action against them. The applicant also requested the PBC for the cancellation of the license to practice of the accused lawyer.

Disciplinary Committee of PBC directed the Advocate Tariq Mehmood for appearance but he did not turn up. On this, PBC has suspended the license of the said lawyer and held in its order that accused is the office bearer of a Bar Association due to which neither police is arresting him nor cooperating with the victim family. Punjab Bar Council requested the Lahore High Court to intervene into the matter.

LHC Complaint Cell took notice on administrative side of the episode and directed the concerned D&SJ to look into the matter and submit report immediately.
