Youth is dying in accidents:Dr Muhammed Shafiq

Lahore: Road accidents are the major cause of death and injuries for young in Pakistan, careless driving, over speeding, mobile phone usage while driving and sloppy attitude are all hazardous activities for youth. While motor vehicle accidents are the greatest contributor to high rates of injury and mortalities said DIG Dr Muhammed Shafiq while issued directions to the patrolling officers & mobile education unit at zonal office Lahore.

Dr Muhammed Shafiq further said Children need to be taught proper road safety but it is important that parents do not overestimate the level of skills and understanding that young children can be expected to have. He further said Children & youth should be the prime focus of National Highways and Motorway Police and this department is making full investment on them to bring a disciplined next generation on roads with better sense of traffic rules and road safety sense.

On the directions of DIG N-5 Central Dr Muhammed Shafiq Mobile Education Unit and officers of N-5 Central Zone arranged a special briefing/education session regarding awareness of road safety measures at General Bus Stand , Harron Ada and Chand Bagh School, Muridkey respectively.

The briefing session was attended by a large number of students and other dignitaries of the college. The student were given briefing with the help of multi-media projector regarding road crossing, safety helmet, lane usage, seat belt , hazards of over speeding, driving during adverse weather conditions and other tips of road safety. The students were asked to follow traffic rules as civilized nations are known by their discipline on roads. The principal and the students appreciated the effort of NH&MP for imparting such valuable information regarding road safety.
