Pak-Iran gas pipeline project to meet energy requirements: Kaira

kairaIslamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Sunday said that Pak-Iran gas pipeline project is a great development to meet the energy requirements of the country.

Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), he said that this project has
great importance in view of energy demand that is why government has started the mega project.

Kaira said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) always stressed on global
relations which is the demand of the time as well.

Replying to a question, he said that Pak-Iran gas pipeline project is
not against or in favour of any country except Pakistan. He said America did not show its reservation to the government of Pakistan regarding the project on any forum, adding if America officially contact with the government in this regard then government ready to negotiate.

He said that head of the state of both the countries are showing great interest to inaugurate the mega project because it has great importance for regional cooperation.

The minister said Pakistan is a responsible country and expressed
hope that America would not impose any sanction due to this project.

Replying to another question about Turkmanistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) project, he said this project is too difficult to start because it has link with peace in Afghanistan.He said that the regional stability could not be possible without maintaining peace in Afghanistan.

Kaira said that Pakistan has facing terrorism and rendered lot of
sacrifices in this regard, adding PPP leadership has sacrificed their lives and always supported the efforts of peace.He said PPP leadership always taken the decisions in the larger interest of the country and did not compromise about national interest.
