Computerized check posts start working in Lahore

Lahore: CCPO Lahore Muhammad Aslam Tareen has said that Lahore police is utilizing all its resources for maintaining law and order in the city by foiling the nefarious designs of terrorists and anti-social elements. He said that scientific methods are being adopted to fight crime and modern computerized surveillance system of close circuit cameras has been introduced at all entry and exit points of the city through which police officers can monitor any movement at check posts from their offices.

He expressed these views while inaugurating modern computerized system of close circuit cameras at the police check posts at Thokar Niaz Baig, Muhafiz Town and Khiyaban-e-Jinnah, today. DIG Operations Muhammad Tahir Rai and were also present on the occasion. CCPO Lahore said that in view of the present critical situation, there is a need to introduce modern technology and train the police force in its use for the protection of citizens. He said that installation of close circuit cameras at these check post will help police maintain a watchful eye on the activities of terrorists and miscreants.

He said that the process of installation of modern computerized surveillance system based on close circuit cameras at the entry and exit points of the city with the cooperation of private sector was started three years ago and 95% work has been completed. He said that the remaining work will also be completed within next two weeks. He said that special police officials have been deputed for the system which will also be responsible for its safety. The CCPO further stated that these cameras will remain operational round the clock and special lighting arrangements have been made for the night for the checking of vehicles. CCPO Lahore appreciated the efforts of DIG Operations and SSP D&I for the installation of the system. He also thanked Chief Executive and Director Finance Medicam Company for the installation of the computerized system.
