Women are working on an equal footing:Zakia Shahnawaz

Lahore: Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that it is a matter of pride that our talented women are working on an equal footing with men in every field of the life.

She said this while addressing a seminar organized by Women Development Department in connection with the Working Women’s Day at Town Hall here today. A large number of women attended the seminar. DCO Lahore Noor ul Amin Mengal, Chief Social Mobiliser Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Special Advisor to CM Begum Nasim Bano, Fouzia Waqar of Shirkatgah, Working Women Organizations Executive Director Aaima Mahmood, District Coordination Officer Wasima Umar, Assistant Commissioner Raiwind Nadia Saqib, and beautician Musarat Misbah also addressed the seminar and highlighted the steps taken by the Punjab government regarding Women Working Day and women package.

Begum Zakia Shahnawaz said that women are working in every field of life and playing a constructive role in the national economy, besides discharging their domestic responsibilities.  She said the provincial government recognizes their role and introduced the women package to provide them legal, social and economic protection. She said the package would go a long way in eliminating discrimination against women, and they will get protection in transfer of family property and obtaining jobs.

Begum Shaista Pervaiz Malik urged the women to enhance their role in the economic development and implement the vision of the provincial government by taking lead in the national mainstream. DCO Lahore   Noor ul Amin Mengal said the women played the praiseworthy role in campaigns against polio and dengue. He said all-out efforts are being made to provide social and legal protection to women.

Furthermore, seminars were arranged for working women under the Women Development Department in all districts. Women parliamentarians, senior civil officers and women belonging to various walks of life participated in these seminars in a large number.
