Lahore: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Friday said that the PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Zardari were accepting turncoat electables in their parties just to remain in power while the PTI wanted to make a new Pakistan with ideological and committed politicians.
Addressing the participants of a convention held under the aegis of Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Imran Khan said that there was no place for opportunist politicians in the PTI fold.
“I am thankful to Mian Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari for taking all opportunist politicians from the PTI to the PML-N and the PPP to remain in power. Please take more opportunists from the PTI as we need only ideological and committed politicians in the PTI,” said Imran Khan. He said that Nawaz Sharif was copying all slogans raised by the PTI like an incompetent student and the slogan raised by Sharif for bringing a change in the country was also stolen from the PML-N.
He asked Nawaz Sharif to plug 65 percent of the corruption being committed in Punjab Province only as per the statement by NAB chief. He said that Nawaz Sharif was claiming to make a new Pakistan despite the fact that the 70 percent politicians of the PML-N were tax evaders and non-filers. He said that the tax dodgers could not bring about a change in the country.
“Mian Sahib, tax evaders can’t bring about a change. NAB has said that 65 percent corruption is being committed in Punjab. So who stops you to stop corruption in Punjab,” he added.
He said that the PPP government was time and again seeking foreign loans while its own chief of NAB had claimed that there was corruption of 12 billion daily.
“This figure takes the total amount to Rs 4000 billion a year. While the total expenditure by the government is Rs 33000 billion. If we plug corruption, we would easily meet our expenses and there would be no need to seek foreign loans. And on top of it, since Pakistan was not collecting taxes, if we could also collect more tax, it would help the country grow fast,” he added.
Imran Khan said that those nations who don’t seek foreign loans, they could frame their policies as per their wishes. He said that such governments which seek foreign lending, they make the countries salve to the lending nations. He said that the PTI would get rid of the foreign debts.
He said that he had said 16 years back that corruption was the major problems of the country while now the NAB chairman which was appointed by Asif Zardari himself was claiming that corruption was the country’s biggest problem.
“Whichever party would be able to control corruption, it will make a new Pakistan”.
He said that the people were aware of the situation and they were committed for a real change in the country. He said that the PTI would only award the party tickets to ideological workers and not to opportunist politicians.
He urged the party workers to get ready for the intra-party elections in Punjab Province which would be a milestone achievement for the party.
“When I decided to hold the part election, many people advised me against doing so with a fear that it would create fishers in the party. But I said that the PTI is an ideological party and it would be the biggest achievement for the party to hold party election in an election year”.
He said the PTI was going to rewrite the country’s history. He said that the PTI leaders had declared their assets while the PML-N members were refusing to pay their taxes. He said that the PML-N leaders wanted to use taxpayers’ money in the upcoming election.
“But they would have to face a challenge from the passionate and ideological workers of the PTI. So the passion would compete with money and the passion of the youth would finally win,” he asserted.
He asked the workers to ensure free, fair and transparent intra-party elections and he would assure them an unbelievable election campaign.
“The people talk about the election campaigns run by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. I assure you that I would run such an election campaign that the people would forget the campaigns of Bhutto,” he added.
PTI Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Hamid Khan and others also addressed.
