IG continues distributing Public money among officials

Lahore: The crime rate has decreased considerably in the province this year as compared to the previous year and it is due to the successful strategy, aggressive policing, and untiring efforts of the brave policemen. The department salutes those officers who put their lives at stake in order to eliminate the criminals and terrorists despite social constraints amid difficult environment.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held at the CPO today to award cash prizes and commendatory certificates among the police officers/officials of Gujranwala and Gujrat districts, who successfully foiled possible terror assaults.

RPO Gujranwala Muhammad Amin Wains, CPO Gujranwala Abdul Razzaq Cheema, DPO Gujrat Basharat Mahmood were also present on this occasion besides other senior police officers.

On this occasion, the IGP said that at least 6666 murder cases had been reported in 2011 across the province but this year the murder crime descended to 5367 cases reported during 2012. Last year, 215 incidents of kidnapping for ransom had been reported but this year 134 incidents took place in the province. Similarly, robbery-cum-murder incidents decreased from 324 to 209 cases, dacoities dropped from 3771 to 2604, theft from 20790 to 15507, and gang-rape cases fell down from 217 to 186.

RPO Gujranwala Muhammad Amin Wains on this occasion informed that the Gujrat police recovered 87 videos and 241 audio cassettes from the possession of arrested terrorists. The seized material reveals terrible disclosures about the plans and strategy of the terrorists.

Meanwhile, the IGP awarded cash prizes worth Rs 525,000 among 07 officers/officials from Gujranwala district and Rs 510,000 among 14 officers/officials from Gujrat district police. Also, Rs 100,000 was given each to CPO Gujranwala Abdul Razzaq Cheema and DPO Gujrat Basharat Mahmood for their outstanding work.
