PCB security officials return from India

Lahore: The four-member PCB delegation Headed by Ehsan Sadiq, Director Security & Vigilance PCB that undertook an eight-day tour of India to inspect the five venues of the forthcoming India-Pakistan 2012-13 series and oversee logistics and security arrangements arrived back home Saturday evening (December 8).

The contingent will shortly submit its official report for consideration to the PCB hierarchy.

On arrival in Lahore, PCB General Manager Media, Nadeem Sarwar said that besides the facilities at the venues, issues of security and logistics too were looked into in great detail with the Associations Local Security Agencies and Hotel Administration. .

In Chennai, the delegation had a meeting with N. Srinivasan, president of BCCI, and delivered the Chairman PCB’s goodwill message to him. Mr Srinivasan warmly appreciated the message, and reciprocated with a similar message of his own.

In Kolkata, the delegation met with Jagmohan Dalmiya, president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Dalmiya, former president of the ICC as well as BCCI, assured the delegation of CAB’s utmost cooperation with regards to the visiting team’s security, flawless logistical and other arrangements.

Dalmiya not only appreciated the PCB chairman’s cordial message, but also acknowledged Ch. Zaka Ashraf’s efforts in revival of the Indo-Pak cricketing relations after a five-year gap.

The PCB spokesman said, Mr Dalmiya was optimistic that resumption of Indo-Pak cricket will make a positive impact on Indo-Pak relations in other spheres and the increased people to people contact will definitely bring the two nations closer.

Dalmiya also very graciously offered to play host to the 10 former legends that the PCB intended to send to India as ‘Goodwill Ambassadors’. The PCB delegation profusely thanked him for the gesture.

The PCB delegation, said its spokesman, was welcomed by all Association officials that it came into contact with during the visit. They are all eagerly awaiting to host the Pakistan team, said Mr Nadeem Sarwar.
