Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal ): People in hundreds staged a protest in front of Malakwal press club against police for lifting a 14-year-old boy namely Saqib Shabbir from his house in Mona Saidan village.
They raised slogan against police and demanded of DPO to dismiss SHO Malakwal Naeem Gujarand ASI Irfan for misusing their power.
They said police continue indulging in registering false cases on instance of their touts and resort to physical torture if their demand of bribe is not met.
They alleged that there was no FIR or arrest warrant issued by competent authority and lifting of the boy from home by police was without any legal justification. They said there was dire need to enforce accountability in police department for reining black sheep.
The protest participants blocked the road and set tyres on fire. They said police officials who harass and blackmail citizens should be traced out and legal proceedings should be initiated against them for reforming police.
