CM directs for earliest completion of Orange Line Metro Train

Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, while addressing the meeting from London through the video Link, has directed that midnight oil should be burnt for earliest completion of Orange Line Metro Train. And the speed of work be further accelerated on allied works attached with this project. First-aid and rescue 1122 points be restored and the necessary equipment required for the construction works be purchased soon.

The restoration of historical places and renovation works should also be completed at the earliest and effective safety measures be ensured for the workers and technicians working on the project. Comprehensive safety measures be ensured for the protection of the citizens moving around during the construction works and the line departments should expedite the construction works by maintaining close and continuous liaison with each other.

The Chief Minister said that Orange Line Metro Train project shall provide world-class, economical and honorable travelling facilities to the masses and the soon this project is completed, the more it will give benefit to the people.

He said that a tremendous delay of 22 months has been occurred in this project due to the personal interests of some of political opponents. Those political elements who created hurdles in this gigantic project have been exposed. The PTI has given preference to personal interests by ignoring the public interests. The political elements, due to which delay has occurred, have no concern with the welfare of the people but we will cover the backlog with our hard work. For the purpose, we all have to work like a team and it is the time to work diligently as every bit of moment is precious. Now, we have to move forward speedily without wasting any time. You all should concentrate your energies for early completion of this project and double your sincere efforts. When we will work then Almighty Allah shall also support us.

He said that project has been put on track again with the grace of Almighty Allah and this is a project for the whole of Pakistan. This project will be completed with a new commitment and passion. It is true that bigger the challenge, the more work is required. Move forward by accepting the challenge and give results.

It is the golden opportunity to show something to the nation, he said and added that he is regularly monitoring the progress on this project. The progress on civil, mechanical and electrical works of the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train was reviewed and implementation on the directions in light of the decision of the Supreme Court was also pondered over.

The Chief Minister was also given briefing about the progress on construction works during the meeting.

Provincial Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani, spokesman Punjab government Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, advisor Dr. Umar Saif, Chief Secretary, IG police, MD Punjab Mass Transit Authority, concerned secretaries, contractors, China Railway NORINCO team and others attended the meeting from civil secretariat through the video link.
