The elections 2018 seemed to be uncertain : Siraj ul Haq

Lahore : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Siraj ul Haq, has said that the 2018 elections seemed to be uncertain and some people were raising dust by talking of national and technocrats government.

He was talking to the media at Mansoora after the opening session of the JI Shoroa on Monday.

Sirajul Haq said that the undemocratic attitude of the rulers had done great harm to the democratic system in the country. However, he added that the cure of a weak democracy was also democracy.

He said that the PML(N) government was mired in corruption. PML(N) leader Nawaz Sharif had been disqualified, Ishaq Dar had been sacked, the Law Minister had resigned and the clouds of despondency were visible on the faces of the other ministers as well.

The JI chief how forever said that in order to overcome despair, it was imperative to establish supremacy of the constitution, the elections were held on schedule and strict accountability of the corrupt was carried out.

He said the present government had neither implemented its election manifesto nor fulfilled its election promises. Poverty, lawlessness, price hike and illiteracy were the gifts of the rulers, he added.

Sirajul Haq said that there were many other names in the Panama leaks but the names of the rulers were at the top which brought shame to the nation as a whole.

He said the JI Shoora had decided to continue its drive against corruption till the accountability of each and every plunderer. However, he said, this would not be made an excuse to delay the elections. Therefore, accountability and the electoral process must go hand in hand. He demanded that the Election Commission should disqualify all the politicians against whom there were corruption cases.

The JI chief said that the rulers had deliberately weakened the state institutions to carry on loot and plunder. The Parliament was not given any importance and a campaign was going on against the judiciary.

Sirajul Haq announced a Long March from Jamarud to Islamabad in support of FATA’s merger with Khyber P. and the abolition of the FCR.  He welcomed the extension of the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and the High Court to the FATA. However, he said that until and until the articles 246 and 247 of the constitution were not abolished and the powers of the President and the Prime Minister regarding FATA were repealed, the tribal people could not be guaranteed their legal rights.

Sirajul Haq termed US President Trumps announcement recognizing Qibla e Awwal as Israel’s  capital as a conspiracy to thrust a war over the world. He said that the liberation of the Qibla e Awwal was a most sensitive issue for the Ummah. He urged the all Muslim states to support Turkey on the issue and go for trade and social boycott of the US till its withdrew its decision.

To a question regarding the Model Town killings, Siraj ul Haq said that no body, whether a minister or chief minister was above the law. He said that those responsible for the killing of fourteen persons should be punished in accordance with the law.
