PFA seals factory making adulterated butter from Banaspati ghee

Lahore : Punjab Food Authority has sealed factory (Sakhi Pak Dairy) for producing fake butter that was being prepared with Banaspati Ghee and other substandard food articles in the area of Nishter Town here on Monday.

Team has confiscated several maunds substandard butter, later discarded.

PFA team under the supervision of director vigilance and deputy director operations Dr Farhan have raid on the factory site on the tipoff of PFA vigilance cell.

Director General PFA Noor Ul Amin Mengal said that fake butter was being made by using banaspati ghee, surf and flavor. He said that fake butter had to supply on sweet shops and food points for the preparing confectioneries and several food dishes like Karahi Gosht, Dal Makhni, Makhan Handi and etc.

He said that Banaspati ghee is injurious to health that may cause of diseases for consumers. He has appealed citizens should to purchase good quality and ratified products from reliable stores. He told that factory was sealed with the help of police team after facing resistance from factory owners. PFA has registered FIR against factory owner and take into custody all factory record and discarded all fake butter.

PFA will also take action against shopkeepers where butter supplied in market.
