Disallowing lawyers to go to NAB court was the reason of scuffle

Lahore : Officials have filed a preliminary report to National Accountability Bureau Headquarters on Friday regarding alleged attack on the prosecution team earlier today during hearing of a corruption reference against Maryam Nawaz and Capt (r) Safdar.

Reportedly, the headquarters was informed that one of the lawyers wing member thrashed a cop positioned in the court premises for barring the protesting lawyers to enter.

It was reported earlier today that a scuffle erupted when security personnel barred lawyers and PML-N leaders from entering the court after which the judges along with Justice Muhammad Bashir expressed resentment and left the court without hearing.

The spat also injured one lawyer who was immediately taken to the hospital for medical assistance.

On the other hand, NAB prosecution team has submitted report in headquarters, stating that the team was tried to be attacked as its head Sardar Mazhar Abbasi was pushed by the lawyers. The report further stated that the team member was tried to be removed from the dais.

Following the clash, Maryam Nawaz was also permitted to leave the judicial complex while the indictment proceeding has been adjourned till October 19.

Talking to media, Maryam Nawaz asked Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal to take notice of the incident and launch investigation into the matter.
