Swedish Ambassador Ingrid Johansson visits Rescue 1122’s HQrs

Lahore : Swedish Ambassador in Pakistan, Ms. Ingrid Johansson visited Rescue 1122’s HQrs and met the Director General, Punjab Emergency Service Dr. Rizwan Naseer and pledged to work for strengthening collaboration pertaining to emergency services between two countries in future.

On her arrival, DG Rescue flanked by his team welcomed her warmly at the Headquarters.

Ms. Ingrid Johansson visited different training scenarios and the simulators including Deep Well Rescue, Rescue Training Tower, Fire Fit Challenge Tower, Lake for Flood Rescue Equipment, Swimming Pool and Urban Search & Rescue Ruble Pad here at Emergency Services Academy.

After visiting the training facilities, Ingrid, while addressing the under training cadets of the Motorbike Ambulance Service of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Gilgit Baltistan and other areas of the country, said she witnessed rescuers working hard and learning the skills, which will assist them in very difficult situation of emergency operations.

She asked them to feel proud on the noble job of serving humanity. She said that number of emergencies does not matter but your preparation and to maintain it always matters because you have to work for citizens.

She said it was an important fact that people have mental satisfaction believing that there is a system & and an emergency number “1122” on which they will call during any critical situation and trained staff would assist & rescue them.

She said that “working for Rescue Services in Sweden is a very prestigious job, having tough selection process, and this job is considered more prestigious than the Army because Rescue Services have day-to-day connection with lives of the people and I hope you feel the same here in Pakistan”.

She further highlighted the importance of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) while quoting an example of her life where she alongwith her couple of friends saved a human life through CPR for 30 minutes in Korea. She asked the rescuers to continue doing CPR of emergency patients of cardiac arrest and let the doctor decides about the life signs.

Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that we enjoy friendly relationship with Sweden since the days we were planning to establish a Modern Emergency Service in Pakistan. “I have visited Sweden & keenly observed the functioning of Swedish Emergency Services, their motivation and the way they work,” he said, adding Sweden has a great role in foundation of Emergency Services in Pakistan based on the motivation.
