Kh Salman Rafiq annoyed over slow pace of work of WIC

Lahore : Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh Salman Rafiq has expressed indignation to the officers of Health Department and Project Director of Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology(WIC) on slow pace of work of fully functionalization of the institution.

He directed the officers to complete procurement of medical equipment for the operation theaters in minimum timeframe.

The Minister also directed that recruitment on the newly sanctioned 75 posts of medical officers, senior registrars, head nurses and staff nurses should be completed on urgent basis.

He said this, while presiding over a meeting to review and remove the bottlenecks in full functioning of WIC, here today.

Additional Secretary Health(Admin), Procurement Specialist Health Department, officers from Finance Department, Project Director and Medical Superintendent of WIC were also attended the meeting.

Kh. Salman Rafiq said that on the directions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, government has spent 1.5 billion rupees on the project and other amount of 490 million rupees has been provided for the procurement of equipment and other requirements.

He expressed displeasure over the slow process of procurement of the equipment and directed to complete the process of procurement on fast track.

MS WIC informed that facility of angiography is available in the cardiac center and during the last three months, 65 angiography procedures have been carried out. He informed that so far, WIC has an MoU with a private hospital in Wazirabad for cardiac surgery.

Kh. Salman Rafiq directed that WIC should be linked with the Punjab Institute of Cardiology for providing treatment and surgery facilities for the patients in Wazirabad.

The Minister also directed that BoM of WIC also be constituted at the earliest. He directed to convene next meeting within a week to finalize the arrangements in which Chief Executive of PIC also be invited.
