Hanif Abbasi visited Mandi Bahauddin to review sports development schemes

Mandi Bahauddin: The Chairman Steering Committee of Sports Development, Punjab, Hanif Abbasi visited Mandi Bahauddin district and reviewed ongoing sports development schemes. He went around Mandi City and surrounding area, and inspected development of play fields, installation of flood lights, construction of surface drainage system, sitting arrangement built for audience in Jinnah Stadium.

He also visited District Jinnah Sports Complex where international level indoor game courts and other facilities are being developed. He was accompanied by DC Hafiz Shaukat Ali, AC Shabbir Cheema and district support officer Nasir.

Earlier on his arrival, DC briefed the chairman at his office on availability of play grounds, ongoing development projects and other sports facilities in the district, and discussed matters with the chairman relating to promotion of sports activities.

The chairman appreciated progress of ongoing sports development projects and acknowledged the efforts of DC and District Support Officer in this regard.  He said Punjab Government, according of Punjab CM’s vision is promoting culture of sports, healthy activities and develop state of the art facilities and infrastructure in the province down to the level of union council.

After health, education, provision of potable water, sports are the forth priority, and for this purpose Punjab Government has allocated funds amounting to Rs 15000000000 for Punjab. Projects include Gymnasiums 48, among them 23 are complete, remaining projects including sport complex Phalia and Mandi Bahauddin would be complete by September this year.

He said the government has also planned to establish sport academies in all districts and engage sports veterans at district/tehsil level to impart training to the talented youth.
