Information Department should also use social media : Mian Mujtaba Shuja

Lahore : Provincial Minister for Information, Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that we are living in information age. He said that due to increasing progress of communication technology, the world has become a global village in the real sense. It is necessary for Pakistani communication experts to utilize all out resources for communicating their view point to the modern world so that we can tell the world that Pakistan is a peaceful and safer country and rich in different kind of culture and its people are known due to their good behavior and accommodation.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of senior officers of Information Department at committee room of Alhamra Arts Council. Advisor Information Malik Ahmed Ali, Secretary Information Raja Jahangir Anwar and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

The Minister said that Information Department is a key institution and its officers play an important role in creating awareness among the people about government performance, policies and vision. He said that public opinion becomes smooth with effective information of government performance as people become aware of government policies in this way and government also becomes aware of public opinion.

He said that besides print and electronic media, Information Department should also use social media. People living abroad should be told about performance of Punjab government, its ancient culture, and great civilized heritage through internet. He said that Punjab has been rich in culture of civilization and tourism can be promoted by introducing its culture at international level.

He said that in view of the importance of information department, it should be further activated so that people become aware of vision, performance and policies of Shahbaz Sharif.

Earlier, Secretary Information Jahangir Anwar gave a briefing to the Minister regarding the performance of the department.
