Dr. Umar Saif leaves for USA to attend 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit

Dr. Umar Saif (Chairman PITB & VC of ITU Lhr)Lahore: Vice Chancellor of the IT University (ITU) Lahore /Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif has left for USA to attend 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) on Tuesday. He was invited by the White House to participate in the conference to be held at the Stanford University, Silicon Valley California (USA) on 22 to 24 June 2016.

Dr. Saif will represent Pakistan first time in the GES which will also be addressed among others by the US president Barak Obama.

The invitation letter issued by the White House described that Pakistan was among a few countries across the globe those had demonstrated track record of promoting entrepreneurship, had a concrete plan for future support of the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, had ability to announce a new government initiative, program or regulation that could support the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem at GES and had a commitment to providing information for an implementation report released at GES 2017.

A spokesperson of the PITB said that Dr. Umar Saif had established the largest and first Start-up Incubator-Plan9 in Pakistan that was being replicated by other universities and colleges in Pakistan too. “PlanX and the TechHub Connect are other state of the art projects that are equally supporting entrepreneurs in Pakistan. The Plan9 incubated more than 100 start-up companies some of whom have won international rapport and fetching reasonable foreign investment to Pakistan.
