Government is considering the demands of blind persons seriously:Zaeem Qadri

Zaeem QadriLahore: Spokesman Punjab government Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that government is considering the demands of blind persons seriously. He said that injustice will not be tolerated. He said that on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, problems of blind persons are being resolved on priority basis. He asked the blind persons to let the affairs run smoothly as their demands have been accepted. He also regretted inconvenience faced by Lahorites due to protest of blind persons.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at Directorate General Public Relations Punjab, here today. Secretary Social Welfare Haroon Rafique and Secretary Special Education Ambreen Raza were also present on the occasion.

Zaeem Qadri told the media that increase of quota in jobs was the top most demand of blind persons which was not only accepted but being implemented. He said that under three percent quota instead of two percent, 3435 vacancies for blind persons were advertised in government departments last year, out of which, blind persons have been recruited on 1718 vacancies and they are performing their duties efficiently.

ZaeemQadri said that 1800 Khidmat cards have been distributed among disabled persons and added that more than two lakh Khidmat cards will be provided to disabled persons. He said that the ten years upper age relaxation have been given to disabled persons for recruitment. He said that Sahulat centers have been set up at provincial and district level for the facility of disabled persons and registration of blind persons have been completed.

Zaeem Qadri said that special identity cards have been launched for disabled persons and 50 percent concession has been given to special persons for bus fare and air fare. Similarly, free treatment facilities are being provided to disabled persons. He told that on the admission of disabled persons in government universities, laptops will be given to them and all educational expenses have been eliminated in government educational institutions for disabled persons.

He said that the facility of a helper has been provided to disabled persons for participation in CSS examination. He said that a website is being launched for the guidance of disabled persons.
