Lahore: Director General Wildlife Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan has said that exhibition of wildlife in public places, rallies and processions is a crime and those responsible could be awarded two years’ imprisonment and fine of Rs. 15000.
He expressed these views while presiding over a
meeting, here today, regarding complaints of exhibition of wildlife in
election offices and corner meetings in connection with local bodies’
elections. The officers stationed at headquarters were present in the
meeting.
Khalid Ayaz Khan said that the department will issue
warning letters to the candidates in the second phase of upcoming local bodies polls who are allotted the symbols of wildlife to refrain from showing wildlife in public places. He said that strict action would be taken against those who did not act upon the warning and their political career could come into danger.
He said that department is also taking action against those who exhibited wildlife during recent local elections held in 12 districts of the province. He said that nobody is above the law and strict action would be taken against those found guilty in this regard.
