The 6th Inter-School and Inter-College Games start at Punjab Football Stadium

Minister Education Rana Mashhood AhmedLahore: The 6th Inter-School and Inter-College Games started at Punjab Football Stadium here on Monday. Thousands of students of several schools and colleges participated in the opening ceremony.

Punjab Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. While inaugurating the Games, the Minister said that it’s Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) which provided the most suitable platform and create passion among youth of the country to feature in such a large sports extravaganza.

Rana Mashhood said Punjab govt and Sports Board Punjab (SBP) have always extended every possible facility for the holding of sports events in the province. “Punjab Olympic Association is doing wonderful job by organizing Inter-School and Inter-College Games and Punjab govt will encourage all such sporting activities across the province,” he added.

The minister further said: “Punjab govt as per vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif is doing all-out efforts for the promotion of sports in all parts of province. The large participation of male and female students in the Inter-School and Inter-College Games is enough to assess that sports culture has been introduced in the country”.

He said that after watching numerous students in the field, now we can say that the future of sports is bright in Pakistan. “Punjab Youth Festival has played an important role in introducing sports culture in Pakistan. Pakistan players established several national and international feats after the holding of three editions of Punjab Youth Festival,” he asserted.

PbOA President Iftikhar Malik, on this occasion expressed his gratefulness to Punjab govt, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan and DG SBP Usman Anwar for providing all facilities and a suitable platform for the holding of Inter-School and Inter-College Games. “The credit of revival of sports in Punjab goes to Punjab govt and DG SBP Usman Anwar,” he stressed.

The minister awarded trophy to Punjab Group of College student for winning March past competition. Kinnaird College students remained runners up in this event. PbOA President Iftikhar Malik also presented a shield to Rana Mashhood and Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar.

Secretary Sports Punjab Humayun Mazhar Sheikh, President Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) Iftikhar Malik, Secretary PbOA Idrees Haider Khawaja were also present on this occasion.

Students of various schools and colleges presented Chinese Ribbon Dance, tableau, aerobic, gymnastics and gangnam style dance on this occasion.
