Mother and Child health is important then “two children-prosperous family”:Begum Zakia

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz has said that counseling is being made with regard to family planning at the time of delivery of child in view of the mother-child health.

She expressed these views while addressing a seminar regarding family planning at a local hotel, here today. Zakia Shahnawaz said that besides slogan of “two children-prosperous family” we have to give importance to the health of mother and child. She said that the Ulema are aware of the problem of increasing population.

The Provincial Minister stressed the need of telling parents that it is difficult in present price-hike to provide best education, training, health and food. She said that it is responsibility of all doctors and medical staff to take care of the health of mother-child. She said that government encourages those NGOs which are the source of positive mental change of the people.

Zakia Shahnawaz said that there is a need of resolving problem of increasing population on war-footings. She said that Population Welfare Department is discharging its duties efficiently within limited resources. Representatives of all segments of the society, doctors, stake-holders and experts attended the seminar. Dr. Rubina, Dr. Shafqat, Zafar Ikram, Dr. Tayyiba Waseem, Dr. Zahida Sarwar and Dr. Pervaiz Imtiaz also expressed their views.
