The dream of bright Pakistan cannot be materialized without prosperity of labour community: Raja Ashfaq Sarwar

Minister Labour Raja Ashfaq SarwarLahore: Provincial Minister for Labour & Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that industrial workers and labourers are our precious asset. He said that the dream of bright Pakistan cannot be materialized without prosperity of labour community.

He said this while presiding over a meeting to review the progress of ongoing development projects of Punjab Workers’ Welfare Board, today. Secretary Punjab Workers’ Welfare Board Shahid Zaman Lak, Director Works Muhammad Mazhar and senior officers of Labour Department attended the meeting.

He said that no laxity and political interference by the government departments will be tolerated in residential schemes for labourers. He said that all basic amenities including schools, community centers and mosques will be provided in workers’ welfare colonies being constructed by Punjab Workers’ Welfare Board throughout the province.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that 30 thousand two hundred and 26 houses, flats and plots have been constructed and distributed in 27 labour colonies.

He said that free education, books, notebooks, uniform and transport facilities are being provided to 40 thousand children in 53 schools of Punjab Workers’ Welfare Board. He said that free higher education is being provided in engineering, medical and other professional disciplines to 18270 children through the funds of 61 crore, 37 lakh and 88 thousand rupees.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar told that marriage grant of one lakh rupees per girl has been distributed among 70585 workers and labourers so far. Similarly, death grant at five lakh rupees per labourer has been given to more than 9540 bereaved families so far. Secretary Punjab Workers’ Welfare Board Shahid Zaman Lak gave a briefing about the development schemes of the Board.
