PU ASA takes out rally against Orange Train project

PU ASA takes out rally against Orange Train projectLahore: The Punjab University Academic Staff Association on Thursday took out a protest rally against the government’s U-turn from its promise of not using PU Town 1 land for Orange Train project.

PU ASA President Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, Vice President Prof Dr Abid Hussain Chaudhry, Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain and a large number of faculty members were present on the occasion. The teachers were holding placards and banners against construction of infrastructure on the university land related to Orange Train project.

Talking to media, Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam said that NESPAK and TEPA officials were providing wrong information to the government and especially inappropriate behavior of TEPA Chairman Israr Saeed was creating problems for the government. He said that the government could easily use open space besides PU Town 1 for construction of project offices but it was not considering the reasonable option.

He said that a lot of MPAs had also showed their annoyance over the behavior of the bureaucracy. Earlier, a general body meeting of PUASA was held at the auditorium of Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in which the teachers expressed their anger.

ASA Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain announced that if the government did not change its plan and maintain the sanctity of its promise, the teachers would take out a massive rally on October 27.
