Punjab University Law College lecturer beats her colleague

Punjab University Law CollegeLahore: Punjab University Law College (PULC) lecturer Khijista Rehan on Wednesday tortured her colleague lecturer Sumbal Islam indiscriminately and threatened her of dire consequences. Mr Rehan fled from the scene when the police reached the spot.

According to details, University Law College Lecturer Sumbal Islam departing from the college’s staff room after wazu to offer Zohar prayers when Khijista Rehan aggressively passed highly offensive remarks about Ms Sumbal Islam.

At the same time, Law College’s assistant professors Samee Ozair, Shahbaz Cheema, Javed Akhter and a terminated employee Munir Awan were also present there. Ms Sumbal replied that she was with Wazu and requested Samee Ozair being senior to stop Ms Rehan from calling her names. Samee Ozair asked other teachers to let Khijista Rehan do whatever she was doing. Meanwhile, Khijista Rehan pushed Sumbal Islam away and started slapping her. The noise of the incident attracted other teachers, employees and students. Ms Rehan also passed offensive remarks against other lecturers Zarfashan Qaiser, Sahrish and Isba who reached there instantly.

The administration informed police about the incident upon which SHO Muslim Town along with other police officials reached the spot while Khijista Rehan fled from the scene. PULC lecturer Sumbal Islam recorded her statement before the police and submitted application for registration of FIR against Khijista Rehan.

Talking to media, she called upon Punjab Chief Minister, Governor Punjab and Vice Chancellor Punjab University to take stern action against the aggressive behavior of Ms Rehan.

PULC faculty members condemned the incident and said that Ms Rehan had a history of violent behavior and none of them was safe from her. They called upon the university administration to take action against Ms Rehan so that peaceful academic environment could be ensured in the premises of the college.
