Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health, Kh. Salman Rafique has said that 3-days National campaign against polio would be started from September 14, (today) in Punjab during which 18 million children of upto 5 years of age would be administered polio vaccine drops. He said that Vitamin A dose will also be given to the children of six months age.
Kh. Salman Rafique further said that so far Punjab is polio free province during 2015 and government is determined to make Pakistan a polio free country for which every effort would be carried out.
Kh. Salman Rafique informed that Health Department has constituted 39877 polio teams for the campaign. He said that about 35 thousand mobile team will visit door to door for giving polio drops to the children.
Moreover, special teams have been deputed on the transactional points of the province and Railway stations, Bus terminals, airports and highways toll plazas for polio vaccination of traveling children.
Kh. Salman Rafique also appealed to the parents to ensure get vaccinated their children against polio to protect them from permanent disability. He said that taking care of children’s health is prime responsibility of the parents. Therefore, they should extend maximum cooperation with the visiting mobile teams.
