PEF is providing free schooling facilities to about six thousand students: Dr. Aneela Salman

caption2Lahore: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has provided free schooling facilities to about six thousand male and female students under its evening schooling project in Lahore and Multan districts. For this purpose, 102 educational centers have been set up through private partners to provide free schooling to the needy children of disfranchised communities including brick-kiln workers, child laborers and housemaids.

MD PEF Dr. Aneela Salman stated this while addressing the educational gifts distribution ceremony at PEF sponsored evening school at Manga Mandi on Friday. This school has been established to provide free education to the children of brick-kiln workers.

She told that evening schooling project is very helpful in motivating needy parents to send their children to PEF sponsored schools. This program has been launched under the umbrella of Education Voucher Scheme (EVS) which has been sponsoring education of a total of three lakh and 21 thousand needy students in 36 districts of the province. She maintained that such programs play important role in eradicating ignorance and poverty alleviation by education-promotion and giving necessary awareness to the parents. Education is the most conspicuous symbol of hope and success while teachers act as ‘change agents’ at the grassroots. The function was also addressed by PEF Director (EVS) Samina Nawaz.

Later, Dr. Aneela Salman visited PEF sponsored evening school in Shamkay Bhatian  on Multan Road and impressed upon teachers and students to work hard to excel and help improve the quality of life. She said that such schooling facilities are a great boon for the needy parents who cannot send their children to far of schools for want of resources. On the occasion, parents and brick-kiln workers thanked the foundation for its much-needed assistance in education of their children.
