Acute schools problem in Walton, Lahore

Lahore: The residents of walton in Lahore cantonment area are facing great difficulties in finding public sector schools in their area as there are only two such schools; one is secondary and the other is elementary school. Walton is a large cantonment area in Lahore where lakhs of poor people are living.

Scores of Walton dwellers have appealed to the punjab government as well as to the walton cantonment board to open more schools in their area so that the local students could easily continue their education. This is especially difficult for the girls who cannot go to schools in other areas on public transport. Walton is primarily a city-slum where mostly poor daily-wagers and low grade government employees reside who have very limited resources. Only two government schools cannot fulfill educational needs of their children.

There is a dire need to open more government schools in walton areas so that the locals could benefit from ‘paro punjab, barho punjab’ in the real sense.
