Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has assigned responsibilities to Provincial Ministers and administrative secretaries of various departments in every district for ensuring implementation on vigilance check lists and preparedness regarding security of educational institutions included in A-category and A-plus in all districts of the province.
Provincial Ministers and secretaries will stay in districts for next ten days for this purpose. They along with member national and provincial assembly and district administration of concerned district will visit public and private educational institutions and meet students and teachers to review the security arrangements. They will stay in the districts till satisfactory completion of security arrangements and return to provincial metropolis after sending complete implementation report to the Chief Minister Punjab.
This was stated by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan while presiding over a meeting of administrative secretaries at Civil Secretariat today. He said that besides general schools, colleges and universities, technical educational institutions, special educational institutions, medical colleges, agriculture universities, veterinary universities, national college of arts, law colleges and schools of fashion designing have also been included in the check lists of security arrangements. He told that divisional commissioners and concerned RPOs will prepare roadmap for inspection of schools by provincial ministers and administrative secretaries and it will be decided on daily basis.
Rana Mashhood told that the required funds have been provided to DCO of every district for security purposes which will be utilized in consultation with elected representatives and schools councils.
Earlier, Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan paid surprise visits to Govt. Girls High School Model Town Lahore, Divisional Public School Lahore, Govt. College of Home Economics, Queen Marry College, govt. Girls College Model Town and Aitchison College Lahore. He met teachers and students who attended schools on the first day after winter vacations and expressed his satisfaction that our new generation has come out of psychological pressure of Peshawar tragedy. He said that the entire nation has united against terrorism.
During his visit to Aitcheson College, some parents told the Education Minister that a portion of boundary wall of Aitcheson College could not be raised upto 8 feet, upon which, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan directed the Principal to complete this work within a week and during this period, Aitcheson College will remain closed upto January 19.
