The amended draft law of Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority is prepared

Lahore: Advisor on health Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that the amended draft law of Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (BTA) has been prepared for ensuring availability of healthy blood to patients and safe blood transfusion in the province. He said that after scrutiny of draft law by the Law Department, it will be presented in the next session of Punjab Assembly for approval.

He said this while presiding over a meeting for discussing clauses of amended draft law of Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority, here today. Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik, Consultant German Institution GIZ Paul Cohort, Secretary BTA Dr. Jaffar Saleem, Hematologist Dr. Javeria, Law Officers of Punjab Health Department and other concerned officers attended the meeting. The meeting discussed new draft law in detail. Khawaja Salman Rafique directed that immediate meeting of technical members of Board of BTA should be convened on Tuesday, January 13 for further discussing proposed draft law so that these members should give final shape to it.Health Advisor to CM

Kh. Salman Rafiq said that strict legislation will be carried out for taking strict action against illegal blood banks so that those playing with the precious human lives could be awarded deterrent punishment and legal flaws should also be removed. He thanked Consultant German Institution GIZ Paul Kohorrt in providing technical assistance for preparing draft law. On this occasion, Paul Kohorrt said that Dr. Aleena will visit Lahore in February to provide training to blood inspectors, hematologists nominated by BTA and focal persons appointed at district level who will provide training to master trainers.
