A delegation of International Investors Group of textile and garments sector calls on CM Punjab

CM PUNJAB Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is an agrarian country and produces best cotton. He said that Pakistan especially Punjab has special expertise in textile and garments sector. He said that a plan has been evolved for the establishment of state-of-the-art Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park with the investment of billions of rupees in Punjab where special and modern facilities would be provided to the investors, workforce, textile and garments industry. The Chief Minister said that it is his dream to make apparel park the most modern park of South Asia which will be materialized at every cost.

He expressed these views during meeting with a delegation of International Investors Group of textile and garments sector, here today. Besides textile and garments sectors, prospects of cooperation in the project of Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park were also discussed during the meeting. Provincial Ministers Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Muhammad Shafiq, Advisor Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha MPA, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police and senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister said that a conducive environment has been provided to foreign investors in Punjab and special incentives are being provided to them regarding investment. Although Pakistan is facing terrorism and energy crisis yet government is taking solid steps for coping with these challenges, he added. Shahbaz Sharif said that generation of electricity through cheaper sources is among the priorities of the government. He said that menace of terrorism and extremism will be eliminated with the force of unity of the nation. He said that peace is essential for the promotion of investment.

The Chief Minister said that after acquiring GSP Plus status by Pakistan, textile and garments exports are increasing and Pakistani garments have got easy access to European markets. In view of this, a plan has been made for making state-of-the-art Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park and government is working speedily on this project, he added.

Senior Vice President International Investors Group David Love lauded the policies of present government regarding investment. He said that Pakistan has made remarkable progress in textile and garments sector. The delegation included Senior Vice President International Investors Group David Love, Senior Vice President Ms. Liz O’Neil, Vice President Ms. Anne Madison and other officials.
