Punjab University organizes seminar on Hajver Tassawuf

PULahore: Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Atta Muhammad Maneka has said that we can establish peace and improve our society by benefiting from the teaching of Sufis who spread Islam in the region through their teachings.

He was addressing a seminar organized by Punjab University Hajver Chair and Department of Auqaf and Religious Affairs at Sherani Hall of Oriental College here.

Acting PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Dean/Principal Oriental College Prof Dr Ismmatullah Zahid, Dr Zahoor Ahmed Azhar, Dr Muhammad Akram Ikram Shah, Dr Ghulam Moeen-ud-Din Nizami, Dr Syed Qamar Ali Zaidi, Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialvi, Dr Muhammad Sultan Shah, Syed Muhammad Sarwar Chishti, Mian Saleem Ullah Awaisi, faculty members and a large number of students were also present on the occassion.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr Maneka said the government would soon start teaching of renowned book “Kashful Mahjoob” at a seminary associated with the mausoleum of Hazrat Ali Hajveri on regular basis. Dr Ehsan Malik said that we must adopt reading habits to amend our mindset. He said that there must be a strong relationship between heart and tongue. Dr Zahoor Ahmed Azhar in his research paper said that Sufis introduced Islam in this region and because of their teachings, countless non-Muslims embraced Islam.

Syed Qamar Ali Zaidi said that people should study Kashful Mahjoob because it defined so many principals of everyday life. Dr Moeen Nizami, Syed Akram Ikram, Dr Muhammad Sultan Shah also spoke on the occasion.
