Khalil Tahir Sindhu chairs award merit scholarships to the deserving students of minorities

Minister Minority (1) Minister Minority (2)Lahore: Punjab Government has approved Rs.3 crore merit scholarships for deserving talented students belonging to minorities so that they could continue their studies with pride and honor and become useful and valuable citizens of Pakistan. This was stated by the Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu while addressing a ceremony at Government Waqar-un-Nisa College for Women, Rawalpindi organized to award merit scholarships to the deserving students of minorities on Wednesday.

The ceremony was attended by Lubna Rehan and Ramesh Kumar Arora MPA’s, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rawalpindi Imran Qureshi, AC (City) Qurat-ul-Ain Malik, Director College Professor Hamayn Iqbal, Deputy Director Rana Javed, Principal Waqar un Nisa College, Dr. Saira Mufti, Faculty Members and students.

The Provincial Minister said that government is committed to bring prosperity by human resource development and mobilizing all available resources to upgrade existing facilities of education and co curricular activities. He said educational promotion initiatives of Chief Minister Punjab have created spirit of healthy competitions among students to attain better positions in examinations. On this, the Provincial Minister also lauded the role of minorities in nation development and assured that every step would be taken for their socio-economic development.

Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that government has initiated various steps to honor and encourage talented students with the objective to provide them opportunities of carrier development and higher education. He appreciated the discipline and educational environment of Waqar-un-nisa College and said that young generation is the future of Pakistan and government extending helping hand to mitigate the sufferings of citizens of Pakistan.

Later, the Provincial Minister awarded merit scholarships from Rs.30 thousand to 50-thousand each to 25-minirity students. They expressed their gratitude and assured that they would maintain the standard of distinctions in future also.
