Labour Department to continue crackdown against petrol pumps

DCO LahoreLahore: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has taken notice of selling petrol in less quantity by some petrol pump owners after further reduction in prices of petroleum products by the government. On the direction of Labour Minister, Deputy Controller Weights and Measure Arshad Mehmood Tarar along with inspection teams of Labour Department checked 52 nozzles of various petrol pumps at Sheikhupura and took strict action against petrol pumps on selling petrol in less quantity.

According to the details, on the complaints of citizens of Sheikhupura about selling of petrol in less quantity, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar had directed concerned officers of Labour Department for taking action against such petrol pumps. Deputy Controller Arshad Mehmood was given the task of immediate inspection who checked 11 petrol pumps, of which, irregularities were found in 10 petrol pumps. 27 nozzle units of these petrol pumps were sealed and challan have been sent to the competent court for further action. Owners of some petrol pumps have also installed secret buttons and equipments and also tempered the government seals.

Raja Ashfaq Sarwar directed officers of Labour Department to continue crackdown against petrol pumps on daily basis for ensuring provision of petrol to the people at prescribed quantity and rates.
