Sirajul Haq and Rehman Malik urge govt , PTI to resume talks

Lahore: Ameer Jamaat e Islami Pakistan, Siraj ul Haq has said that it would be in the interest of both the government and the PTI to resume their talks from the point these were disrupted.

Addressing a joint press conference with the PPP leader and former Federal Minister Rehman Malik, who visited Mansoora Monday evening, he said that politics meant finding a way out of the crisis. He said that PTI chairman Imran Khan had expressed his willingness for dialogue and now it was the government’s responsibility to go two steps forward and resume the talks. JI deputy chiefs Hafiz Muhammad Idrees , Rashid Naseem and JI Information Secretary Ameer ul Azim were also present.

Sirajul Haq said that martial law was enforced in the country in 1958, 77 and again in 1999  because the political parties could not resolve their issues rising above mutual differences, and were not ready to tolerate one another.

He said the whole nation wanted that the ongoing political crisis came to an end as the politics of confrontation that began from Islamabad and had been continuing for the last four months, had spread out all over the country.  He said if the parties were not serious, they could reach a blind alley as in the past.

Siraj ul Haq said the two sides should not make the minor issue of the setting up of a commission a point of prestige.  He said the JI would continue its efforts for the solution of the political issue, but it would be better if the government resumed dialogue before December four.

Speaking on the occasion, Rehman Malik said it was due to the efforts of JI Chief and PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari that the talks between the two sides were started, and this was s prudent move because political confrontation always caused harm to the country.

The PPP central leader also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to set up a commission for an enquiry into rigging in the elections in the light of the letter written by the Prime Minister to the Supreme Court. He said the setting up of the commission would facilitate the task of the political Jirga.

Rehman Malik also impressed upon the PTI chief Imran Khan not to issue deadlines so often and instead strive for a national harmony in view of the persistent bombings on the Indian border and the Indian Premier Modi’s belligerent attitude.  He said there were negative signs for the future regarding  India -Pakistan relations and there were also the IS threats. Therefore, all political parties should sit together for finding solution to all problems.
