Coaches to impart best training to Pakistan women kabaddi probables:Usman Anwar

Lahore: Director General Sports Punjab (SBP) Usman Anwar has directed the coaches and trainers to impart best possible training to Pakistan women kabaddi probables for the grand event of Kabaddi World Cup. DG SBP issued these instructions during his visit to national women kabaddi training camp at Punjab stadium here on Friday.

Usman Anwar asked the coaches to motivate the players besides imparting them training. He asked the women kabaddi team to take the field in world cup with the spirit of patriotism.

DG SBP observed the training and exercises at the camp and asked the kabaddi probables to emphasis on technique of the game. “Our kabaddi team must prepare themselves properly for the challenging encounters of the grand Kabaddi World Cup,” he urged.

Meanwhile, The members of consultative group discussed the operational models of public sector sports facilities in an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium hereon Friday. Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar chaired the meeting.

The participants discussed different ways and means how to function and get maximum benefit out of various sports facilities in the province.

In his address, DG SBP Usman Anwar said that Sports Board Punjab has always played a leading role for the promotion of sports. The two editions of Punjab Youth Festival in 2012 and 2014 have played major role in making good name for the country across the globe. “Our players demonstrated their rare talent in the Guinness World Record Show held in Milan, Italy. The sporting teams and contingents from dozens of countries visited Pakistan during the Punjab Youth Festival events,” he explained.

DG SBP further said that Pakistan has earned a great respect in the field of sports in recent past and our country will be sports spearhead of the region in near future.

About the sporting facilities, DG SBP informed that all the sections of society including private sector will be invited for the smooth running of sporting facilities in the province. “We want to extract maximum benefit out of our sporting infrastructure and for that purpose we will have to utilize these facilities in a professional manner,” he elaborated.

Giving details of the sports venues and grounds, Usman Anwar informed that Punjab govt has provided 18219 sporting facilities at 4312 sports venues across the province. 3087 grounds can stage cricket matches whereas the game of field hockey can be played at 3110 venues. As many as 3170 venues can hold football matches while 2994 venues have been established for indoor games in the province.

The meeting was attended by Prof Dr Zubair Ahmed Khan, Dr Muhammad Khaleequr Rehman, Kh Nadeem Ahmed, Mahmood Akbar, Col Faisal Hafeez, Hur Hussain, Muhammad Hamid Raza, Zaman Arshad, Dr M Shoaib, Dr M Shehriyar Shahid, Javaid Zaman Khan, Kh Junaid and Waris Baig.
