CHIEF SECRETARY PUNJAB PRESIDES OVER MEETING REGARDING REFORMS IN HEALTH SECTOR

CS Punjab Naveed Akram CheemaLahore: Chief Secretary Punjab Naveed Akram Cheema has said that reforms in of health sector and provision of modern health facilities to the citizens is the top priority of the government and all out resources will be utilized for this purpose.

He was presiding over a high level meeting regarding health sector reforms at Civil Secretariat. Advisor on Health Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafique, Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik, Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, elected representatives, Chief of CM Health Roadmap Programme Ijaz Akhtar, Chief of PITB Umar Saif, VC KEMU Prof. Faisal Masood, principals of various colleges, senior medical experts and officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, seven groups preparing recommendations for resolving problems of government hospitals presented presentations for the improvement of their respective fields in the meeting. Khawaja Salman Rafiq said that government is spending a huge amount of Rs.102 billion during the financial year for the provision of treatment facilities to the masses, however, additional resources will be provided for the implementation of the recommendations for the reformation of health sector.

The Chief Secretary directed that the campaign for eradication of polio be made more effective. He also issued instructions for provision of security to polio workers and taking stern action under the law against the elements involved in violence against such workers.

The Chief Secretary also appreciated the hard work and professional commitment of senior medical experts, public representatives and officers who formulated recommendations for the uplift of health sector. He said that these recommendations will soon be presented to Chief Minister Punjab for approval after which their implementation will be started.
