We served the people in the Punjab without any discrimination:Ch Pervaiz Elahi

Chaudhry Pervaiz ElahiLahore: Former deputy prime minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that he had served the people in the Punjab without any discrimination and besides welfare, well-being and prosperity of common and poor man also paid attention to project Pakistan overseas, under this spirit he had granted international city status to religious centre of Sikhs, Nankana Sahib, and prepared plan in 2007 for establishing International Guru Nanak University in the district.

He was talking to a delegation consisting upon former MNAs Shahid Manzoor Gill and Khurrum Munawwar Manj, Armaan Idrees Chatha, Safiyan Bhatti, Engineer Bilal Virk, Ali Abbas Gul Agha and other political and social leaders.

Ch Pervaiz Elahi said after granting district status to Nankana and creation of Shahkot, Sangla Hill and Nankana tehsils provided development funds of more than Rs 10 billion for the district besides special annual grant of Rs 45 crore, special attention was paid to the provision of health and education facilities and construction of roads in the district, buildings of various primary and high schools were constructed, Govt Guru Nanak Degree College Nankana was expanded and Shahkot Degree College constructed as well as plans were also made for up gradation of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Nankana, water supply schemes were also launched and cooperative housing colony was established for low income people, Shahkot-Nankana Road was doubled, reconstruction and expansion of Lahore-Faisalabad Road had also benefitted people of Nankana and the district, plan was also prepared for construction of double road from Nankana to More Khunda Head Balloki and Shah Park was stabled at a cost of crores of rupees.

The delegation paid a rich tribute to Ch Pervaiz Elahi and said he rendered revolutionary service to the people of Nankana Sahib by granting it the district status and created three tehsils but also allocated more than Rs 10 billion for development funds, got hospitals and schools established and provided special grant to district Nankana every year during his tenure, double carriageway was constructed from Wagah border to Nankana Sahib via Lahore which greatly benefitted Sikh yatris as well as Pakistanis.
