Bank dishonours CM prize money cheques given to the Hockey Players

Pakistan Hockey TeamLahore: The bank has dishonoured the prize money cheques given by CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on 21st of October to the Asian Silver medalists of Hockey Team a graceful ceremony at Model Town.

When the Hockey players submitted their cheques for drawing cash they were astonished when the bank refused to honour the cheques of Punjab Government. Spokesman Sports Board Punjab has said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given approval to a sum of Rs.44 lakhs as special cash prize for the players and officials of Pakistani hockey team, runner up of Asian Hockey Championship. The process of releasing funds by Finance Department Punjab is near to complete. The prize cheques given by Chief Minister Punjab to national hockey team will be encashed within next few days.

In a statement here today, the spokesman has made it clear that the players had been informed while giving cheques that they should not deposit cheques till release of funds by Finance Department. The spokesman further said that the process of release of funds will be completed within next few days and then these cheques will be encashed.
