Siraj ul Haq spent a busy day on a mission impossibleLahore:  Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, had separate meetings with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the PTI chief Imran Khan in the federal capital on Wednesday and stressed upon the two sides to find out a negotiated settlement of the present impasse.

The JI chief conveyed the suggestions of the PTI chairman to the Prime Minister. He stressed upon the Premier that the country was facing a tense situation and it was testing time for the federal governemnt how it handled the situation. He said that the whole situation was before the masses as nothing remained a secret.

Earlier, a PPP  delegation headed by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah called on the JI chief and discussed with him the prevailing situation.  He also met the chief of the Pakhtoonkhwa MAP Mehmud Khan Achakzai during the day.

A delegation of the PPP headed by the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah, called on the Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, in Islamabad on Wednesday.  JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch and JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam were also present.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the JI chief said the two sides had exchanged views on the government’s attitude, the PTI’s long march and other related issues. He said the JI wanted to play its role in tiding over the situation instead of looking as a silent spectator. He however said that every political party had a right to carry on political activities.

He said it was the responsibility of the political leadership to rise above party considerations and defuse the situation.

Syed Khurshid Shah told newsmen on the occasion that all the parties would have to play active role in putting the things in order and restoring stability in the country. He said that the PPP and the JI agreed on the supremacy of the constitution and the strengthening of the parliament, and the parliament should complete its term.

To a question about the reported offer of the National Assembly Speaker to resign Sirajul Haq said that there should not be any such development before time. He also called for convening a meeting of the Electoral reforms committee at the earliest. Released by JI Media Cell, Mansoora, Lahore.

Later, talking to newsmen, the JI chief said that the nation and the political parties wanted that there should not be any untoward incident on the Independence Day. Therefore, he said, all concerned should ponder over the situation with a cool mind to find a peaceful solution.
