SBP chalk out sports & cultural programmes for IDPs

1 (1) Lahore:  Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has chalked out several sports and cultural programmes for the help ofInternally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan here on Tuesday. In this regard, three important meetings were held at SBP under the chairmanship of Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar. MPA Tahya Noon, DG Excise & Taxation, Intikhab Alam, Director Domestic Cricket, Shafiq Ahmed, GM Domestic Cricket and representatives of GM PTV, DGPR and CEO Cinema were also present on this occasion.

SBP, in collaboration of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will be organizing a cricket series between Pakistan National Team and ‘A’ Team from July 19 at different venues of the country.

The first match will be played in Rawalpindi on July 19. The next two matches will be staged in Multan and Faisalabad on July 21 and 24 respectively while the last match of the series will be played at Gaddafi Stadium on July 26.

Leading politicians, showbiz personalities and top sports stars will also be there to cheer the players2 and make the fund-raising campaign a success.

Moreover, it was also decided in the meeting that donation boxes will be placed at leading cinemas, theaters and other public ceremonies. The final of Football World Cup will also be shown in leading cinemas and the entire money, gathered from there, will also be sent to IDPs. Public sector, especially generous personalities of the country will also be inclined to help IDPs as much as they can.

In his address, DG Usman Anwar said that SBP will dobest possible efforts to help IDPs of North Waziristan. “They are our brothers and SBP is playing active part for raising funds for them,” he added. DG asked the participants of the meeting to play an effective role in this noble cause.DG further said that IDPs were really in precarious condition these days. “We will not leave them alone in this testing period.We will help them to the maximum,” he further said.“Helping the needy IDPs is the best way to serve our country.We should do whatever we can to earn respect for our beloved country. “Pakistan has given us love and identity and now it’s right time for us to respond in the same manner,” he added.
