Mujtaba Shuja distributes solar lamp at Government Boys School Chamra Mandi

Minister Finance Lahore: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has commended the vision of Shahbaz Sharif for launching free distribution schemes of laptops and solar lamps to appreciate the brilliant students. This will also help to reduce the dropout rate in the schools of far flung areas of the province.

He expressed these views at the solar lamp distribution ceremony at Government Boys School Chamra Mandi. Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that Punjab government distributed solar lamps among the 2 lakh students last year with a cost of Rs. 2.5 billion under Ujala Programme so that load shedding could not disrupt their study. He said that during current fiscal year laptops and solar lamps are being distributed among the students on merit under a transparent system.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that terrorism and unemployment can be wiped out through promotion of education and provision of jobs to the youth. He said that there is a need to utilize national resources equitably for setting up of a peaceful society and economic prosperity of the masses whereas problems like corruption, safarish and unemployment can be controlled through good governance and transparency. He said that DFID has granted in aid to the tune of Rs.351 million to construct 15000 additional class rooms, one additional class room for each public sector school having deficient facilities. He said that Rs. 274 billion will be spent on education sector during the current fiscal year which is 26.25 percent of the total budget of the province. Senior Headmaster Wasim Butt, Ch. Rehmat Ali Billa, Malik Khalid Saaed, Khawaja Farooq and a large number of students attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile inspecting Ramzan Bazaar at Shadbagh, Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman informed that the Punjab government has established 350 Ramzan bazaars in the province for the provision of quality essential items to the people where 10kg atta bag was being sold at cheaper than the market.

Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that government will deal with iron hands with the elements involved in profiteering and hoarding so that daily food items can be provided comparatively at less prices to the masses. He said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, 350 Ramzan bazaars have been set up throughout the province and 1110 magistrates have been deputed for their supervision. He said that assembly members, provincial ministers, provincial secretaries, commissioners and DCOs will also remain present in Ramzan bazaars for their monitoring and redressal of public grievances. He said that citizens can also lodge their complaints at the complaint centers set up in these bazaars which would be redressed on the spot. TMO Malik Tariq and other officials accompanied the Minister.
