Media misreported Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s media talk: Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain has said that what was published in the newspapers in the context of Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s media talk in the “hujra” of the mosque in the Parliament House had not figured at all during their meeting, whatever was said could very well be verified by former Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, who was also present in the meeting and was his elder also if he says such things were said then that could be accepted, he added.

In a statement issued here today Ch Shujat Hussain said that during the meeting Mushahid Hussain Sayed asked from former Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani as to when he was taking oath as a minister and added that Chaudhry Sahib has come now oath would take place in a day or two. Mushahid Hussain Sayed then narrated the story that Ch Zahoor Elahi Shaheed was the opposition leader in the National Assembly and Maulana Kausar Niazi was the Information Minister, when Mr. Bhutto did not give him time for days together, he would come to Chaudhry Sahib and ask him that he should just visit his house for a while and may just take glass of water only, on this when Chaudhry Sahib paid a visit to the house of Maulana Kausar Niazi, then would immediately come telephone of Mr. Bhutto who would ask him over for a meeting saying whether he (Maulana Kausar Niazi) was angry with him.

On hearing this Maulana Fazlur Rahman had a big laugh and then went away for the press conference where Maulana Fazlur Rahman said in nice words about his meeting with him (Ch Shujat Hussain) that we would examine the 10 point formula and if we could reform it then we would certainly do that.

Ch Shujat Hussain said that after the meeting he had informed Dr Tahir ul Qadri that he had good talk with Maulana Fazlur Rahman.
