Lahore: Ombudsperson Punjab, Dr. Mira Phailbus has said that strict action would be taken against the elements involved in harassment of working women at workplace so that they could perform their professional affairs without any fear.
She expressed these views during a meeting held regarding amendments in Harassment of Women Act 2010. Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed ud Din, Chairperson Provincial Women Commission Fauzia Waqar and Legal Consultant for Provincial Ombudsperson Punjab Asim Sadiq Bukhari were also present on the occasion. Mira Phailbus lauded the efforts of Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din with regard to protection of working women. She said that Punjab government is taking every possible step to provide protection to the women and work is speedily ongoing with regard to amendment in Women Act 2010 which will be approved by Punjab Assembly.
Dr. Mira Phailbus said that Punjab government will provide complete protection to working women of private and public institutions. She said that 50 representative women have been appointed with the cooperation of Aurat Foundation in 36 districts of Punjab who are performing their duties in an efficient manner.
