Lahore: The federal government has appointed DIG Aftab Ahmad Cheema as IG Islamabad.Currently he was working as Add.IG CTDT Punjab, Lahore.He is expected to assume his charge soon as IG Islamabad.
DIG Aftab Cheema is a hard working and a competent police officer ,enjoying a very good repute in Punjab Police.
As the interior minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan had claimed to make Islamabad a secure city but he failed to make his dream come true in last 10 months ,after the Islamabad district courts terror attack,ministry of interior searched desperately officers who could make Islamabad safe and secure city.
In this way ,all the eyes set on DIG Aftab Ahmad Cheema,interior ministry sent proposal to PM office and his posting orders were issued after PM Nawaz Sharif nod.
The security situation in Islamabad and the challenges of terrorism, would be prime task for Aftab Cheema after joining Islamabad Police.
Meanwhile,another honest officer of Punjab Police Muhammad Ali Niakokar would have been posted as SSP Operations Islamabad on a vacant post.
Mind it IG Islamabad Sikander Hayat and SSP Operations Dr. Rizwan had been removed after terror attack in Islamabad courts.
DG Immigration and Passport Sikander Sultan has been appointed Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan.
