Social Welfare Department to work for eradication of dengue:Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait ul Maal, Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari has said that Social Welfare Department has constituted a 9-member committee headed by Chief Social Mobilizer at provincial level which will provide awareness to the people regarding checking dengue larvae.

He disclosed this while addressing a meeting regarding anti-dengue in the committee room of Qasr-e-Behbood Model Town today.

The Minister said that the committee has so far registered 49 thousand volunteers who along with other institutions would provide information to the people regarding dengue and natural disasters by visiting houses. He said that registration cards would be issued to these volunteers. He said that all the cities of the province have been divided into sectors for checking dengue and providing awareness to the people in this regard so that they could perform better as compared to earlier.

He said that surprise visits will be paid to the offices of Social Welfare Department for checking the work and attendance of the officers and officials. He said that volunteers would be linked to the hospitals, dispensaries and laboratories in their respective sectors for obtaining immediate data regarding dengue patients.

The Minister said that officers of Auqaf department will also be bound to deliver lectures regarding dengue in the mosques for ensuring cleanliness. He said that all the offices of Social Welfare Department have been made online and every kind of information will be available there.

Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari said that no negligence or leniency will be tolerated during dengue awareness campaign. Secretary Social Welfare Cap.(R) Jehanzeb Khan, Director General, Directors and other officers were present on the occasion.
